Brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger were raised in an European family where music was an important part of life. The brothers leaned in to those musical influences and were performing regularly even before they were teenagers. Their professional career started as a duo, but in time, they teamed up with bass player Joel Landsberg, a native of New York City who also had a very extensive musical upbringing in classical and jazz music (studying with jazz great Milt Hinton). This trio that has been playing professionally together since 1995, moving to the United States in 2002. Sold out audiences are enamored with The Kruger Brothers’ creative infusion of classical into folk music, making them a fixture within the world of acoustic music. The Kruger Brothers personify the spirit of exploration and innovation that forms the core of the American musical tradition. Keeping the sound fresh, Kruger Brothers recently began taking mandolin player Jonah Horton along with them on tour. Horton’s former band, The Trailblazers, was 2018 Momentum Band of the Year, and he is known for his fresh take on traditional bluegrass. He is also an instructor for Kruger Academy.
